The Winnebago County Police partnered with multiple other jurisdictions to target some high crime areas over the weekend.

WREX - The patrols took place Friday and Saturday night. The sheriff's office partnered with the Rockford Police Department, Illinois State Police, Loves Park Police, South Beloit Police, Village of Winnebago Police, Rock Valley College Police and the Department of Homeland Security to conduct the patrols in high crime areas around Rockford.

The sheriff's office says it was the first "saturation" detail since the end of September of last year. The detail resulted in 3 arrests of wanted individuals who are currently being held in the Winnebago County Jail.

The breakdown of the detail is as follows:

  • 153 Traffic stops
  • 59 Citations
  • 62 Written warnings
  • 18 Arrests for driving after suspension
  • 15 Criminal warrants served
  • 3 Handguns recovered, on of which was stolen
  • 1 Stolen vehicle recovered
  • 79 Grams of cannabis recovered
  • 9 Grams of cocaine recovered
  • 1 DUI arrest

As thankful as I am to have (most of) these criminals caught it's frightening that this much crime was uncovered in just one weekend. Stay safe out there.
