As great as that may sound to the majority of us, keep in mind that the most important word in the headline is the word "might."

Over the last ten years, polls have shown that our dislike of changing clocks twice a year just keeps growing and growing. The numbers show that on the low end of the spectrum, 60 percent of Americans want to dump Spring Forward/Fall Back. On the high end, several polls show the number of people in favor of getting rid of clock changing is all the way up to 75 percent.

Either way, a clear plurality of Illinois residents wants to see twice-per-year clock changing dumped into the trash-can of history, and this might be the timeframe where it finally happens.

In December, President Trump Put Up A Post On Truth Social That Indicated He Would Be In Favor Of Year-Round Standard Time, Although He Commented In 2019 That He'd Be Okay With Year-Round Daylight Saving Time

Back in 2022, the Senate passed the Sunshine Protection Act, which would have made Daylight Saving Time (DST) the permanent time, but the Sunshine Protection Act died in a subcommittee in the House after congressional representatives began arguing in favor of permanent Standard time instead.

Sleep experts, medical professionals, and even farmers (who always get falsely blamed for Daylight Saving Time, even though they hate it and opposed it a hundred years ago when it was first adopted) favor a permanent Standard time over DST.

Even Though Permanent Standard Time Appears To Be A Far Healthier Choice Than Permanent Daylight Saving Time, Most People Just Want To Stop Changing Clocks Twice A Year (Without Having To Move To Hawaii or Arizona)

With President Trump and his top advisors all seeming to be in full agreement about getting rid of twice-yearly clock changes, and the fact that they're heavily leaning in favor of Standard time rather than DST, the coming Spring Forward clock change on Sunday, March 9th, could be the last time we do it.

Then again, we may still be arguing about this on Sunday, November 2nd, when we "Fall Back."
