Have you started filling up your summer calendar with plans yet?

If you're from Illinois, then you know Starved Rock State Park has to make the summer bucket list. However, this summer is going to be different than the rest.

Everyone has pretty much been inside/at home for the past year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We're like animals that have been inside a cage for too long. Now that the cages are starting to open, it's basically like one giant zoo. We've been cooped up at home, and now we want to do all the things.

But life isn't like it used to be, and that's okay. We just to to plan a little better when we want to do something. Like making reservations or getting tickets in advanced. In this case, it's planning your parking.

There's nothing worse than planning a whole day of fun, getting to your destination, and having no where to park. Well, there's one thing worse. Having a whole day of fun, only to go back to your car to find out it's been towed.

That's going to be the case this summer at Starved Rock and Matthiessen State Parks when they receive their annual 2 MILLION visitors. So the Illinois State Police are making sure residents know what to expect for parking.

WIFR details -

Visitors to the parks should be aware of areas marked as “No Parking Tow-Away” zones and are advised parking regulations in those areas will be strictly enforced. While “No Parking Tow-Away” zones are clearly marked, IDOT will be providing additional signage to further denote the zones. In addition to the “No Parking Tow-Away” zones, parking is prohibited upon any bridge or other elevated structure, or within 30 feet upon the approach to any stop sign, yield sign, or traffic control signal located at the side of the roadway, according to the ISP.

The parking has turned into a total nightmare.
A citation for parking where prohibited is $164 and is considered a moving violation. The estimated fee for towing a vehicle from the area to an area tow yard is approximately $300. So make sure when you plan your summer trip, you have parking figured out and ready to go. Check out more parking details right here.
