Two Rockford Police Officers Charged with Criminal Sexual Assault
Two Rockford Police officers have been charged with criminal sexual assault in the last two days, according to a report from the Rockford Register Star.
Police announced Thursday that Eric Thurmond was charged with criminal sexual assault by force following an alleged May 23 incident. The announcement was made just one day after 51-year-old Daniel Basile was also charged with criminal sexual assault.
Thurmond is one of two ROCK house officers, who live in the neighborhoods they patrol. He received national recognition for his viral dancing videos.
Thurmond was placed on administrative leave on May 24.
Basile, a 19-year veteran of the Police Department, was arrested Wednesday after a 23-year-old woman accused him of sexually assaulting her after driving her home from a bar on Oct. 11, according to the report.
