Three Huge Sky Events in Rockford This Friday
Carve out a few minutes this Friday to look up at three huge sky events.
A Snow Moon, a lunar eclipse and a comet walk into a bar... ok, I know, that's a terrible joke, but this Friday, a Snow Moon, a lunar eclipse and a comet will all make an appearance in the sky.
Back in 2015, there was a blood moon that was creating a lot of hoopla. I love things like this because it means I can blame any weird urges or actions on the moon. Looks like I have a good excuse this Friday, February 10.
According to Cosmo, the Snow Moon (which is always the name for the February full moon), will appear at about 4:18 p.m. in Rockford and last until 5:33 a.m. Saturday morning. That should be pretty do-able.
Next, we have that lunar eclipse... which is also called a penumbra eclipse... but we'll stick to lunar. This should arrive at 6:44 p.m. here in Rockford, and last until 8:55 p.m.
Finally the comet, the New Year comet. Apparently this comet has been flying around for quite a while, since December. I know nothing about comets, so this is new information. The comet will be closest to earth after midnight Friday night/Saturday morning.
So basically if you're going to the I Love the 90s Tour, check out the Snow Moon while you're getting ready, the lunar eclipse right before you walk in, and the comet right before you go to bed.
And remember, weird stuff happens when this trio hangs out. I can't wait to blame my weekend on the moon.
