The number one rated hot dog joint in Illinois is a legendary place.

Hot Dogs Are A Big Deal In Illinois

I think living in Illinois, it's almost a requirement to like hot dogs. Probably because one of the most famous hot dogs in the world the "Chicago Dog" was created here. It's funny, I'm from Illinois and I'm not a fan of all the condiments on it. I also put ketchup on them and that makes people angry. Apparently, you are not supposed to do that.

Hot Dog Joints All Over Illinois

I grew up in the suburbs and there were little "mom and pop" hot dog stands all over the place. They were all good. It would be very difficult to be named the "best" hot dog in Illinois because the competition is tough. There are little stands all over the place. They all have tasty products. I guess there has to be a winner.

According to patch.com,

"A more obvious choice was made here in Illinois. Superdawg Drive-In, which has featured classic Chicago dogs since 1948, was the top pick there."

Hot Dogs In Rockford

We have some great hot dogs in Rockford too. Here are some of my favorites.

  • Tom & Jerry's
  • Sandwich Factory
  • Buddy's Burgers
  • Mr. J's
  • Uncle Nick's

That's just the local places not even getting into the chain restaurants. I even like the ones at the BMO Harris Bank Center on $1 hot dog night with the IceHogs. I don't like a lot of toppings but these are okay with me. They include ketchup. onions, cheese, and chili.
