Have you noticed your neighbor's green porch light? Or maybe they have a lamp with a green bulb close to their window that shines all night?

I've seen at least two of my neighbors with green porch lights. At first I thought it was part of the Christmas decorations that was left months after the holiday. All of the other decorations were down, except one green porch light.

I asked my husband if he knew what the light was for and he looked at me like I was crazy. So I went to trusty Google to find out what was going on with the green porch lights.

According to GreenlightAVet.com, the purpose of the green porch light is to show support and appreciation for our veterans.

The website also asks that you take a photo of your green light and post it on social media with #greenlightavet.

GreenlightAVet.com continues to say:

Green is the color of hope, renewal and well-being. “Greenlight” is also a term commonly used to activate forward movement. The simple action of changing one light to green is intended to spark a national conversation regarding the recognition of veterans, and "greenlight" them forward as valued members of our communities.

WOW! That is incredible. This is something I will happily get behind.

Our veterans need to know that they are loved, supported and they mean something to us. I'm sure that soon we will be seeing plenty of green lights in our neighborhoods.
