There’s Only One Way to Get into Illinois’ Fanciest Igloo Restaurant
We may have discovered the need for an igloo restaurant due to a global pandemic, but it's a trend that's here to stay, and here's how you get into Rockford's fanciest igloo hot spot.
For at least a year we've been seeing creative minds figure out how to tackle a pandemic and when it comes to the restaurant industry no idea was too big or too small to attempt.
It's possible that some of the trends we saw during the early days of COVID dining will go away, but it also seems like a lot of them are here to stay. QR code menus... to-go cocktails... and igloos!
Not sure how I managed to go so long without dining in an igloo but it might be because Rockford didn't have any last year.
Please let me know if I'm wrong about this, but as far as I know, we didn't have any igloo options in 2020.
Now we do! We actually have a few options this year including Josef's.
Josef Barbados Steakhouse and Oyster Bar is officially letting us live our igloo dreams, with three adorable and warm igloos waiting for you behind the restaurant.
I got the chance to talk to Lola, the new owner of Josef's about the igloos for an upcoming episode of Good Day Stateline (tune in on November 29!) and of course the top question was... how do you get a seat in an igloo?
You can't buy your way in, but you can donate to grab a seat.
Josef's is taking toy donations for Toys for Tots in exchange for a seat in the igloo.
Just think... you can support a great charity, and eat this delicious food while you're sitting in an igloo?
Is there anything better than this?
In case you want a little more Josef's... here's an episode of Ate One Five from 2019 when Sweet Lenny and I made a stop there.
