She's two years old and already probably has a more important job than you do.

The Rockford Fire Department just introduced their newest employee Ava, a two-year-old labrador retriever.

Ava will be working with the department's arson unit to help solve cases. Arson dogs are able to smell accelerants such as gas or diesel after they have been used to burn down a structure. Ava is lead through a crime scene smelling everything she can and when she finds something she sits and patiently waits for her treat.

Investigator Greg Castronovo said the dogs "aren't 100 percent, but much more reliable than other equipment and allows investigators to refine their search."

Other than the steady job Ava isn't much different from your dog at home. "When she's at work she's all business," says Castronovo "But once that's over, you would not be able to pick her out of a lineup of regular dogs."

Castronovo also added that it costs about $25,000 to put the dog and investigator through proper training.
