The Most Famous Alumni From Each NIC-10 School
There have been some famous people brought up in the area. Do you know where they went to high school? Maybe they copied off you in History class.
P.S. Apologies to Belvidere North. You guys are too young. I substituted in West High School to complete the 10.
P.P.S. I also didn't include West's most famous alumnus. You know who I'm talking about.
- 1
Auburn - Michelle Williams
Michelle was part of the class of '97. She was a member of Destiny's Child with Beyonce (heard of her?) until 2007. She currently has a solo career and has tried some acting.
- 2
Belvidere - Judith Ford
Belvidere grad Judith Ford was crowned Miss America in 1969. She is the only winner to do trampoline as their talent in the competition.
- 3
Boylan - Jodi Benson
This Boylan grad is most known for voicing Ariel in The Little Mermaid but if you've seen a Disney movie in the past 20 years you probably heard her in that one as well. Most notably as Barbie in the Toy Story franchise.
- 4
East - Natasha Leggero
Natasha has become one of the top female comics in the country. You can watch her now in Comedy Central's Another Period.
- 5
Freeport -Robert Johnson
This Freeport native founded BET and is the former majority owner of the Charlotte Bobcats. Robert became the first black American billionaire.
- 6
Guilford - Rick Nielsen
If you are from Rockford you know who this is. Heck you may have run into him at the store this weekend. The guitarist for Cheap Trick loves Rockford and has always come back.
- 7
Harlem - Robin Zander
As a Harlem alum myself, Robin is the one person on this list that I hope to usurp someday (unlikely.) The lead singer of Cheap Trick is always introduced at performances by Rick Nielsen as his "...favorite lead singer in the whole wide world."
- 8
Hononegah - Danica Patrick
Before NASCAR Danica was dominating the area in go-karts at the age of 10. The Rockton native is currently a spokesperson for GoDaddy.com.
- 9
Jefferson - Kathryn Layng
She was Neil Patrick Harris' first on screen crush in the ABC comedy Doogie Howser M.D. Nowadays she lives in New York raising two children with her playwright husband David Henry Hwang.
- 10
West - Ernie Kent
Before Fred VanVleet Rockford had Ernie Kent. Kent was a 1973 Parade Magazine All-American before going to Oregon to play for the Ducks. Kent eventually came back to Oregon as a coach and led them to two Elite Eight appearances.
