April Fool's Day is rarely done well by anyone, especially by companies.

It's like the St. Patrick's Day for people that don't usually have fun. You get a lot of amateur drinkers on St. Patty's Day and you get a ton of people that aren't usually fun trying to have a good time on April Fool's Day. It's usually cringe-worthy at best and can usually spiral down a mean street at worst.

So kudos to the Cubs on this actually kind of funny "commercial." Dirt and grass scented body sprays aren't totally unheard of though.

Story time:

The year was 1996. I was a senior in high school and my girlfriend let me know that she wanted some new perfume. What could go wrong with letting a 17-year-old boy pick how you smell?

So my buddy Mike and I head to Cherry Vale to pick out my girlfriend's new smell. Since we had no idea what we were doing, we headed to The GAP. They had brand new scents, it was a big campaign of theirs.

There right in the middle of the new smells was a bottle called "grass." It smelled like.... grass, with a little Pine Sol mixed in. My buddy Mike was like "Grass smells awesome! That smell when you get done cutting the lawn? I'd love to smell that all day."

That was all the prompting I needed. We had been shopping for roughly 90 seconds and I hit a home run. I buy the perfume (only thing I ever bought from The GAP.) When I see her best friend, I excitedly tell her about the new purchase. She looked at me like I had bought a bottle of dog crap. She tells me that I MUST go return it for something normal. I do, and disaster was averted. Thank you Ang.

Fast forward to today and I take a look on the ol' internet machine to see if you can still get it and look what I found:

$160!!!! I was right the whole time. That stuff was a collector's item and I got it at a fraction of the price.

I was just ahead of my time I guess.
