As recent reports have shown, Illinois is leading the Midwest in outbound migration, or, in other words, people leaving the state. If you've lived here in Illinois for a while, you know there are lots of reasons given for people bolting the state. One of those reasons is high property taxes.
In the April edition of ‘Ask the Mayor,’ Larry Morrissey answered a caller's question about property tax rates in Rockford.
The Mayor said the city hasn't raised its revenue through property taxes at all over the last two years. He proceeded to explain why residents might see the rate going up:
