Nobody does Italian beef better than Illinois. One of Chicago's best beef sandwich shops will soon open a new location in Loves Park with a special surprise.

The Chicago Italian Beef is a unique hyper-local regional favorite. It's definitely one of those "If You Know, You Know" kind of foods.

Like many people in our state, I (wrongly) kind of figured that Illinois' contributions to the culinary world were pretty much limited to deep dish pizza and horseshoe sandwiches.

The age-old dispute of whether or not a hot dog is actually a sandwich can officially be put to rest.

Judging by the popularity of Portillo's here in Rockford, I've got to assume at least half that $3 billion came from the Mulford Village Drive location. I know that my family is good for probably 3 trips to Portillo's a month.
