This new item that you'll find on the Rockford Portillo's menu is really strange.

In my opinion it almost borders on gross.

Ok, maybe I shouldn't say that it's gross without tasting it first.
However, just looking at it and knowing what's in it makes me screw up my nose. I just can't see how these things go together.

According to Portillo's website the Chicago Style Salad is described as "not your average salad - but what else would you expect from Portillo’s? This Chicago-style salad starts with tuscan spring mix and chopped romaine lettuce piled high with red onion, gorgonzola cheese, bacon, and topped with our house salad dressing. On top of the salad are two of our signature, hand-rolled meatballs topped with homemade marinara sauce and sprinkled with grated parmesan cheese."

I mean really meatballs and marinara sauce on a salad? Seriously? I don't know about that.

I get that everyone loves their salads. Loving the meatballs at Portillo's is a given. But the combination of the two?? That's just Eww to me.

Honestly, I just don't get it. Do you?

Would you order this?

If the meatball salad doesn't trip your trigger, they have added another salad to menu for fall. Apple Walnut Harvest Salad. It's composed of "Tuscan Spring Mix and chopped romaine lettuce tossed with diced Gala apples, dried cranberries, candied walnuts, gorgonzola cheese, and topped with grilled chicken and fat-free raspberry vinaigrette."

Mmmmm...now that salad is more my speed.

By the way, both of these salads are here for a limited time so if you want to try them you better do it now.
