ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) — A 33-year-old Rockford woman is accused of trying to hire a hit man.

Anne Barradas-Ferral was arrested Wednesday and charged with solicitation of murder-for-hire.

The Rockford Police Department and the FBI launched an investigation after receiving reports of suspicious activity. Authorities say the investigation revealed Barradas-Ferral was involved in a possible murder-for-hire plot.

The State's Attorney's Office authorized charges and an arrest warrant on Wednesday.

Barradas-Ferral is being held at the Winnebago County Jail on $1 million bond. She's scheduled to appear in court on Thursday afternoon.

Online jail records don't list an attorney for Barradas-Ferral.
