Rockford Police are conducting a homicide investigation after a killing on the city's west side.

According to a press release, officers received a call early Saturday morning about a suspicious vehicle parked in a yard in the 500 block of N. Avon Street. Upon arrival officers located a Spee-Dee taxi van in a vacant lot with a black male slumped over in the driver’s seat.
