Rockford Police arrested a man Wednesday in connection with an alleged drug trafficking operation in the 1500 block of Magnolia St.

According to the department, officers had received information about the operation being conducted out of an apartment in the area "within the past few weeks."

On Wednesday, detectives from the narcotics unit and the District 2 Neighborhood Response Unit executed a search warrant at the residence.

Officers allegedly found several plastic bags containing a substance suspected to be cocaine along with other items associated with drug trafficking.

James E. Ford III, 38, of Rockford was charged with possession with the intent to deliver 1-15 grams of cocaine within 1,000 of a church, a class X felony. He is being held at the Winnebago County Jail.

Another male and two females who were at the residence at the time of the search were released without charges.
