Rockford Illinois is so Trigger Happy, we Now Have ‘Gun Court’

When I first heard about  "Gun Court" I thought it was like a new t.v. show hosted by Steve Harvey. Could that dude be on television any more?

Beginning May 16th, if you are busted for a gun related crime in Rockford, you will do longer have a standard court hearing. You will Pass Go, you will not collect $200, and you will go straight to GUN COURT.

"We're in the midst of a violent crime spike and illegal firearms are at the heart of such violence, Gun Court alone will not solve this problem. However, it is a necessary and unique strategy to foster consistency and certainty in prosecuting those who illegally possess guns in our community." - Winnebago County State's Attorney J. Hanley 

Basically the court system is looking to get to the heart of the matter, and avoid any type of time consuming legal blah, blah. Have gun, use gun, you will get swift justice. I like it.

A specialty court hearing like this will come complete with assigned public defenders and probation officers. You get the works people, and you will be serving hard time quicker than you can imagine.

The concept is quite simple, and makes sense. Hold those using guns accountable, in a quick manner. The goal is that something prompt and "on target" like Gun Court, will reduce the gun crime...with the bad guys knowing they will get the hammer of justice, quick.
