Rockford E. State Street K-Mart Location is Officially Closing

We expected this would occur, but now we know for sure. Our E. State Street K-Mart location will be shutting its doors.

We heard earlier this morning that Sears announced they would be closing 72 stores across the country, but now we know that the K-Mart in Rockford is one of those stores.

I didn't realize K-Mart was owned by Sears, so this was a bit of a surprise for me.

Out of the 72 total stores, 15 are K-Mart locations that will close this September.

Liquidation sales will begin soon, My Stateline is reporting as soon as June 14.

Will you miss K-Mart?

Surely some Rockford residents will, however in a case like this there just aren't enough shoppers to keep the store open.
