Every couple weeks, The Steve Shannon Show checks in with SwedishAmerican's Dr. Bill Renk, to make sure you get good and truthful covid information.

Thursday morning (7-01-21) was the first time we've chatted with Dr.Renk, a pediatrician with SwedishAmerican, since Illinois reached Phase 5 of the Restore Illinois plan.

The state has been 'fully open' for a few weeks, but in no way has slowed the onslaught of misinformation and misleading headlines all over the internet. It's almost inescapable. Once the untrue stories are published, they immediately spread, then it becomes the gospel everyone is preaching.

Speaking with (and reading info from) medical professionals, scientists and researchers is more important than ever. We may be fully reopen, but just how close are we to slipping back to the worst moments of 2020.

We had two very specific questions (or topics we want to cover with Dr. Renk

The first one was regarding a headline I saw about the two-shot vaccines and why you should get one of each. The story went on to say that if you mixed them, you would get a stronger immune response.

SHOULD YOU MIX THE PFIZER & MODERNA VACCINES FOR MORE PROTECTION

The second topic we discussed with Dr. Renk was regarding the new covid variant that is getting all kinds of global coverage and to what level we should be concerned, in the U.S.
