When someone puts out the call in Rockford, the residents respond.

In my 20 years in the city, I have noticed in times of crisis, our fine folks rally to address and hopefully fix the problem.

So when I saw the city asking the public for their assistance yesterday on Facebook, I knew I needed to pass on the good word.

According to the City of Rockford Government Facebook, they say The Family Peace Center needs "unopened formula, as well as new pacifiers and baby bottles for these desperate situations."

Located at 315 North Main Street, The Family Peace Center "provides services to victims of inter-personal violence...The facility focuses on reducing the number of times survivors tell their story and the number of places survivors must go for help, as well as increases access to services and support for survivors and their children."

Now is the time to give. If you have any of the above please consider donating to a fellow Rockford resident who desperately needs it.

City officials are encouraging donation drives at churches, schools and/or community groups. If you're interested in helping The Family Peace Center, call 779.348.7600.
