If you're a woman and you like good beer, well, this might be the organization for you.

The very first Illinois chapter of Girls Pint Out is opening right here in Rockford. The inaugural meeting will take place  Wednesday, September 17, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Prairie Street Brewhouse.

What is Girls Pint Out? It was started in Indianapolis in 2010, Girls Pint Out has grown into a national organization of ladies who enjoy good beer. From their website:

Girls’ Pint Out is a national craft beer organization for women. With chapters all over the country, Girls’ Pint Out brings together women who are interested in craft beer. Through monthly events and online collaboration, women involved with Girls Pint Out have the opportunity and resources to become active the in the craft beer community.

Local organizers say women are invited to learn about Girls Pint Out, brainstorm ideas for the Rockford Chapter, and mingle with like-minded women. There is no membership process and sometimes events are co-ed (which means even I might have the chance to attend at some point).

You can find out more at the Rockford chapter's Facebook page or check them out on Twitter.
