The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is handing over $400k to the Chicago-Rockford International Airport (RFD) for a "noise compatibility" plan study.

It's no secret that as RFD has grown into the powerhouse that it is today, noise complaints have been growing, too. While the economic growth and benefits to Rockford are great, getting jolted out of bed at all hours by jet traffic can start to get on one's nerves.

But, if you're looking for the noisiest airport in Illinois (and, it turns out, all of America), you don't have to go far. Chicago's O'Hare airport holds the title, hands down. At least according to BetterGov.org.
