The United Way of Rock River Valley has placed the United Way 2-1-1 information and referral line on alert in direct response to the hazardous weather outlook that was recently issued by the National Weather Service.

Winnebago and Ogle counties are included in the region that will be enduring dangerously low wind chill values. Additional accumlating snowfall, combined with blowing and drifting snow is expected to be a problem for drivers through Sunday.

United Way 2-1-1 operators are ready to respond to callers 24 hours a day, seven days a week, while continuing to provide winter weather emergency information. Residents in both Winnebago and Ogle counties are urged to call 888-865-9903, or 2-1-1 for information on warming centers and emergency shelters.
