It seems like a broken record, but once again Rockford has experienced never-before-seen cold temperatures.

Early Saturday morning the mercury dropped to -16 degrees, shattering the previous record low for February 28. According to the National Weather Service, the previous mark was -7 for back in 1962. And that's not all! The temperature this morning is the coldest temperature in Rockford this late in the season EVER. Well, at least since record have been kept.

We set two record cold temperatures on Friday as well. Rockford had a record low tying -15 and a record cold high of 12 degrees. The previous record was set just last year.

The 10 subzero lows in Rockford this month tied for the 8th most subzero lows on record in February with 3 other Februaries...this month has a strong chance to finish tied as the coldest February on record in Chicago and as the 2nd or 3rd coldest February in Rockford.
