Not only did my heart hurt over the situation, but it was Memorial Day weekend, so I'm sure the resort was packed with guests and I was worried about everyone's safety! Thankfully, no one was

The flames began around 5:30 p.m. and it took 52 different fire crews about 90 minutes to extinguish them. The Grand Bear Resort released this statement last night...

The total amount of time the fire burned might not have been long, but the destruction it left behind was massive. An Oglesby, Illinois resident named Richard Baldridge shared these photos he caught by drone of the blaze in progress, and what it looks like today now that the smoke has cleared...

According to an article shared by mystateline.com today,  fire crews are still trying to determine what started the fire, but they do not suspect any foul play.

Seven total cabins, which each contained 4 privately owned units, were destroyed by the fire, but this tragic news does come with a slight silver lining; no one was hurt in the blaze.
