When you get stuck with an unusual name, you generally have a couple of choices; change your name to something less unusual--or totally lean into the weirdness and roll with it.

For the folks in and around Hell, Michigan, I don't think they've ever considered not leaning into it, because they seem to be having too much fun.

In Hell.

Any Town With An Ice Cream Shop Called "Screams Ice Cream From Hell" Has Got To Have A Pretty Good Attitude About Things

Hell, Michigan is an unincorporated community in Livingston County, that, according to Wikipedia, "has no defined boundaries or population statistics of its own." I guess for the people who live there, it's truly their own personal Hell.

Hell, Michigan is about 20 miles northwest of Ann Arbor in the midst of what PureMichigan.com calls "a lovely rural landscape." They've heard all the jokes, and they're fine with them. Why else would a Halloween theme continue throughout the entire calendar year?

By Now You Have To Be Wondering How You Can Get Your Own Piece Of Hell Right Here In Illinois (I'm sure you're not, but humor me)

At one time, if you had the money, you could have purchased the entirety of Hell. Back in 2016, the town was offered up for sale with an asking price of $900,000. An effort by a group calling themselves "Damned" tried to raise funds online, but fell short.

Now, you can buy 1 square inch of the incorporated community for the low, low, price of only $9.99. But wait! There's more!

But, not much more. Assuming you jump on this opportunity of a lifetime, your purchase comes with a non-warranty deed recognizing the purchaser as laying claim to “a square inch of Hell on Earth,” which “goes straight down to an undetermined depth.”
