Lunatic Driver Busted For Going Over 100 in an Illinois Construction Zone

This is just absurd. There is no reason good enough to justify the speed of the vehicle. Even if there were some medical emergency, one error could prove deadly.

It may be a four-day holiday weekend but not everyone has the time off, especially the men and women in uniform. And, just because it's the weekend doesn't mean driving rules don't apply.

Illinois State Police want drivers to remember to drive safely, obey laws, and understand that they are in fact working and watching for safety concerns.

If you see the above sign it doesn't mean drive as if you are trying to qualify for (insert NASCAR race here). Construction zone speeds are the same everywhere in Illinois, usually 45 or 55 miles per hour.

HEFTY FINES

The starting fine for speeding in a construction zone is $375 for the first offense and a minimum $1,000 for the second. It doesn't matter how "little" you're speeding.

A person busted on September 3, 2021, on I-294 should be slapped with at least $1,000 and have their license suspended.

Their recorded speed is nothing short of dangerous and reckless.

Illinois State Police documented the crime on Facebook. (Yes, going over 100 mph on any public street is a crime.)

A driver was busted on a Chicago tollway for going 104 miles per hour in a 45 mph construction zone... at night.

One of our Sergeants stopped this driver on I-294 (a Chicago Tollway) tonight for 1️⃣0️⃣4️⃣ mph in a 4️⃣5️⃣ mph 🚧CONSTRUCTION ZONE🚧.

Nothing more was documented in ISP's post but let it be known, that driver made a very poor decision which could have killed themself or someone else.
