In our house, it's "Hide the Pickle."

That's right. On Christmas Eve each year, after the kids are asleep in their beds (having Googled "what's a sugar plum?" so they know what's dancing in their heads),  Amy and I play "Hide the Pickle."

The more dirty-minded among you are probably thinking that I'm using a juvenile euphemism, but you would be wrong. We're not the only ones who do it, either.

From Wikipedia:

The Christmas pickle is a Christmas tradition in the United States. A decoration in the shape of a pickle is hidden on a Christmas tree, with the finder receiving either a reward or good fortune for the following year. There are a number of different origin stories attributed to the tradition, but it was primarily thought to have originated in Germany. This has since been disproved and is now thought to be an American tradition from the late 19th century.

See? Told you so. That's how it works. We've had a lot of fun over the years hiding the pickle, with the only adjustment being the purchase of a 2nd pickle ornament after our youngest and shortest family member invoked another tradition: shouting "That's not fair!"
