The current recall of Kraft Singles might be because of the chance of a really unpleasant cheese-eating experience rather than a full-blown danger of gagging and/or choking. However, as long as there's a chance that someone could wind up gagging and choking, it's better to pull the product.

That's exactly what Kraft-Heinz is doing by recalling 83,800 cases of Kraft Singles that were sold nationwide, including right here in Illinois.

There have been other food product recalls recently that involved items that most people probably don't have in their refrigerators, but when it comes to Kraft Singles, you'll have no trouble finding them in lots and lots of homes.

It Seems That The Problem Isn't The Cheese Slices Themselves, But Rather The Plastic Wrap That They're In

According to the information at KraftHeinzCompany.com,

The voluntary recall comes as a precaution after a temporary issue developed on one of our wrapping machines, making it possible that a thin strip of the individual film may remain on the slice after the wrapper has been removed. If the film sticks to the slice and is not removed, it could be unpleasant and potentially cause a gagging or choking hazard.

The issue was discovered after we received several consumer complaints about finding the plastic stuck to a slice, including six complaints of consumers saying they choked or gagged in connection with the issue. No injuries or serious health issues have been reported.

They go on to say that they've fixed the machine that wrapped the recalled slices, and they've also closely inspected other machines for the problem.
