The Rockford Police Department has released details of three different shooting incidents that happened over the weekend.

Shooting at Stop-N-Go on Charles Street on Saturday

According to a press release, the shootings began early on Saturday morning (12/17) at 12:25 am when two individuals in a grey sedan attempted to rob the driver of an SUV at the Stop-N-Go on Charles Street.

That's when the female passenger exited the SUV and fired on the two robbery suspects before all vehicles fled the scene.

The grey sedan allegedly involved in the robbery was then seen by witnesses dropping off a 21-year-old male gunshot victim at a local hospital who was in critical but stable condition at the time this article was published.

A short time later, Rockford PD was able to locate the vehicle at Auburn and N. Court Street and took 3 other suspects into custody, according to the press release.

Three felony charges against 24-year-old Lashwell Gillis of Rockford have been issued by the Winnebago County State's Attorney's Office including:

  • Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon
  • Aggravated Robbery
  • Armed Robbery

Gunshot victim dropped off at Rockford hospital

A second Saturday shooting was reported around 1:05 pm when Rockford Police "observed an SUV arrive at a local hospital with multiple bullet strikes along the driver’s side," according to the press release.

A 25-year-old male victim received multiple life-threatening gunshot wounds, according to Rockford Police, and is in critical but stable condition.

In the report, Rockford PD says witnesses reported a grey sedan pulling up next to the SUV at N. Main and Auburn and began to fire on the vehicle.

No suspect in this shooting has been identified at the time this article was published.

2 teens were shot on Sunday evening

Rockford Police were notified after a 16-year-old male shooting victim was dropped off at a local hospital around 7:45 pm Sunday evening, and according to the press release the shooting victim was picked up in the 1400 block of Overdene Avenue.

Only 5 minutes later Rockford PD was notified about a 15-year-old shooting victim in the 1400 block of Barton Boulevard who sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg.

Upon arrival, officers observed numerous subjects inside the residence and met with the victim, who sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his leg. During the investigation, officers located and recovered four handguns and ammunition. -Rockford PD
