Love Dogs? Volunteer As a Dog Walker at One Rockford Animal Shelter
Noah's Ark Animal Sanctuary is offering a paw-some way to enjoy a beautiful day in Rockford, Illinois; walking shelter dogs in need!
Must Love Dogs
My family may have a pet cat, (who we completely adore), but at the end of the day we are 100 percent dog people, which is good because we have 3 of them!
One of my favorite things to do when warmer weather returns is taking my dogs for a walk around the neighborhood. (Honestly, it's the only form of exercise I truly enjoy. LOL!)
Seeing the excitement on their faces, (and their tails), when I get out the leash brings a huge smile to my face, and my heart always breaks a little when I think of other dogs that don't get to experience that kind of outdoor joy.
If that thought makes you sad too, don't worry! There's a great opportunity to help waiting now at Noah's Ark Animal Sanctuary in Rockford!
(Here's a pic from the day we adopted my dog Urban from Noah's Ark over 16 years ago!)
Volunteer to Walk Shelter Dogs
I have adopted dogs from animal shelters in the past, and volunteering at one of them is something I have always wanted to do. My daughters are both huge animal lovers as well and we've been talking about volunteering at an animal shelter when they're on summer break. This opportunity may just be perfect for us...and YOU!
To volunteer as a dog walker at Noah's Ark everyone must be at least 16 years old, (under 16 CAN walks dogs with a parent present), complete an application and take a dog-walking class. Once you've met those requirements, you can stop into the shelter to walk a dog anytime they're open. Doesn't that sound like a fulfilling way to enjoy the sights of Downtown Rockford this summer?!?
If dog walking isn't your thing, there are several other ways you can help enrich the lives at Noah's Ark Animal Sanctuary, read more about all volunteer opportunities, here.
