This Fast Food Spot Has America’s Best Fries—But Zero Locations in Illinois

Very rarely am I what I would consider "food jealous," meaning envious of foods that I can't get in my hometown. Think about it: living in Illinois close to Chicago, coupled with amazing restaurants in Rockford, there aren't many times when I say, "Man, I want to try that." That was until today.

America's Best Fast-Food Fries? Not What I Expected

I just so happened to stumble upon a New York Post story highlighting America's best fast-food fries. At first glance, I thought for sure McDonald's and, at worst, Five Guys. Personally, I think the fries at McDonald's are the best on the menu, and the same can be said about Five Guys. Turns out, my fry tastes don't align with the rest of America.

McDonald's and Five Guys Left Off Top 10 Fries List

That's because a new survey shows neither of those offerings cracked the top ten for best fries in the US.

Checkers, Arby's, Hardee's, Chick-fil-A, and Raising Cane's were highly ranked, while Shake Shack was the second-best in America for fries. We can get to the Chicago suburbs to try Shake Shack fries, but we'll need to load up the car and drive for a good long while to try the fries in the number one spot.

In-N-Out Tops the List, But Good Luck Finding One in Illinois

That's because there are zero In-N-Out Burger locations in Illinois, and there isn't an In-N-Out Burger east of the Mississippi as of right now. An April Fool's Day prank had everyone convinced an In-N-Out Burger was opening in Chicago, but we soon realized we had been had, which is the meanest thing anyone has ever done to me.

Should In-N-Out Finally Come to Illinois?

That hasn't changed anyone's hunger for an In-N-Out Burger coming to Illinois, and after the news they have the best fast food fries in the business, the calls will get even louder, at least from me. Maybe it's just me projecting. Do you want an In-N-Out Burger to come to The Land of Lincoln, or should we just be happy with what we have?
