Three New Spirit Christmas Stores Hit Illinois This Holiday Season

Everyone's favorite spooky retailer, Spirit Halloween, is flipping the script and opening three sister stores called Spirit Christmas in Illinois this holiday season.

The holiday season is by far my favorite time of the year, and I find immense joy in making my home look like the North Pole exploded in it each Christmas. I am not happy unless you see Christmas lights or trees in every room you enter, and I have more Santa, snowman, and reindeer decorations than I can count on five hands.

To me, there is no such thing as "too much Christmas", so I'm always on the lookout for new décor to buy, and now I'll have three more stores to check out in Illinois this holiday season!

Spirit Christmas Stores Opening in Illinois

Every fall, Spirit Halloween stores open in vacant retail spaces all across the United States, but in 2024 the company tested something new: Spirit Christmas stores.

Just like its spooky sister, Spirit Christmas stores will offer holiday decorations for both inside and outside your home. They’ll also have stocking stuffer ideas for kids and adults, apparel, unique gift ideas, and more.

In 2024, eight Spirit Christmas stores opened, primarily in the Northeast, for 2025 they are expanding to 30 stores, three of which are in Illinois.

All Spirit Christmas stores are now open for business, and here are the exact locations for the three Illinois stores:

• Bloomingdale: Former HHGregg at 340 West Army Trail Road
• Joliet: Former Party City at 2661 Plainfield Road
• Naperville: Former Bed Bath and Beyond at 336 Illinois Route 59

Here's one more important thing to remember about Spirit Christmas stores: when the holiday season is over, that is when the BIG savings begin. Be sure to plan a trip into the suburbs for your day-after-Christmas shopping this year!
