New Ride Clues Spotted at Six Flags Great America
If you’ve already made your first trip to Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, Illinois this season, you probably noticed something a little…mysterious.
Between the thrill rides, funnel cakes, and kids begging to ride “just one more time,” there’s a new buzz floating around the park, and it’s all about 2027.
Visiting Six Flags Great America
It's been well over 10 years since I last visited Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, and it's at the top of my family's summer to-do list.
My daughters are now old enough to enjoy the adrenaline rush that Six Flags Great America is so well known for, and I am excited to see the look on their faces when they step off their first legit roller coaster ride. I'm also excited to see how much the park has changed since I last walked through it.
While I fully expect the entire park to look new and exciting to me, there is something new frequent visitors can look forward to opening in 2027.
New Attraction Coming to Six Flags Great America
For many years, Yukon Territory has been the place where families with younger children spend the majority of their time at Six Flags Great America, but soon it will look entirely different.

The spot inside Yukon Territory that used to be home to go-karts and Camp Cartoon has been completely cleared and surrounded by construction fence with posters teasing new, exciting things coming soon:
I think we can all agree that this new addition will be geared towards younger children and families, but what will it feature? I have a few guesses.
Possible Additions to Great America's Yukon Territory
After looking at those posters for far too long, I came up with three guesses on what this new Yukon Territory area could feature:
- A forest/camping themed playground area with walking trails.
- Some kind of climbing, rope course adventure in the trees.
- A zipline
While those three things may be great guesses, I don't think that's the end of the story.
A Great America visitor recently spotted this solid clue on the construction site:
That might look like just a bunch of numbers and letters on a shipping label to most of us, but an article from WGN-TV says:
There is a crate on the other side of the fence with a shipping label that appears to be from the amusement attraction manufacturer Vekoma, along with letters that say “SFC.” Could this shipment be part of one of Vekoma’s suspended family coaster models? Here’s an example of a Vekoma SFC — Dragonflier at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
I think we might actually have a new roller coaster to look forward to riding at Six Flags Great America next year...what do YOU think?
