New Things Coming to Rockford’s Stroll On State This Christmas
Stroll On State returns to downtown Rockford on Saturday, November 28, 2026, and this year's celebration will bring exciting changes that could make it the biggest holiday adventure yet!

New Things Coming to 2026 Stroll On State
As someone who absolutely loves Christmas, Stroll On State is one of my favorite Rockford traditions.
I love all the twinkling lights, the festive parade, the music, the shopping, and I especially love the magical moment when the city's Christmas tree lights up.

Every year, more families from all over Northern Illinois travel to Rockford to be a part of the special holiday celebration, and this year's event will be expanding with new events and new locations.
As I was scrolling through social media, I noticed this exciting post from Go Rockford:
Stroll On State 2026 Brings Big Changes to Downtown Rockford
One of the biggest changes for 2026's Stroll On State is that Rockford's official Christmas tree and lighting ceremony is moving to newly renovated Davis Park! The riverfront area will feature a main entertainment stage, local vendors, fire pits, Santa visits and a new Festival Fuel area to grab delicious holiday drinks.
Here are a few more changes and additions you won't want to miss at Stroll On State this November:
- New Parade Route - The parade will begin at State and Wyman streets, then travel east along State Street, cross the State Street Bridge, and finish at Third Street. You better plan on getting there early to save your viewing spot! (A new parade balloon will also be debuting this year.)
- An outdoor showing of The Grinch in Davis Park
- Ballerina Ball - This interactive dance experience features performances from Dreamers Like Me and Wonderland Ballet Company and will take place inside Stewart Square.
- Expanded vendor markets - Holiday Market West will extend into Davis Park and Holiday Market East will remain near Rockford City Market.
- Snow Much Fun where families can enjoy activities and games like inflatable street hockey is moving to the BMO Center parking lot.
Rockford's 2026 Stroll On State celebration will kick off Saturday, November 28, at 2 p.m. with the parade, the official tree lighting will take place at 6 p.m., and the fireworks show will begin at 8:30 p.m.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to start mentally planning my route so I can fit in as much Christmas magic as possible on November 28.
