Teen Shot in Face, Man Injured in Rockford Shooting Near 7th Street
Rockford Police are investigating a shooting that reportedly took place late last night (Monday 12/5) in a southeast Rockford neighborhood.
According to the press release, officers responded to a shooting in the 1300 block of South 6th Street around 11:50 pm on Monday.
While on the way to the first shooting, another report was dispatched about shots being fired in the 2100 block of 7th Street.
After arriving on the scene Rockford Police discovered a blue SUV that had "heavy damage and bullet strikes" parked behind a residence on 7th Street.
Four individuals were located in the SUV including a 21-year-old man who was shot in the ankle, an 18-year-old male who received a gunshot wound to his face, and two other juveniles who were uninjured in the shooting.
The two victims in the shooting had "non-life-threatening injuries" and were taken to a local hospital, while the two juveniles were released to their parents, according to Rockford PD.
Rockford Police is actively investigating the shooting and is asking anyone who has information about the incident to call RPD at 815-966-2900, or message them through Facebook (@RockfordIllinoisPoliceDepartment) or on Twitter (@RockfordPD).

In a separate press release today, the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office released an update about a death reported this past Saturday on South Meridian Road. According to the press release, investigators believe there was no foul play in the death and the investigation is "active and ongoing" with no threat to the public.
