Illinois Police Need Helping IDing Body Found In Rock River, No Sign of Foul Play
On Thursday, April 20, authorities were called to an offshore area of the Rock River near Auburn Street bridge where a body was reported in the water. At around 2:30 PM, Rockford Fire Department dive crews recovered the body out of the water.
Now, an autopsy of the man's body revealed no trauma and deputies are now asking for help in identifying the body.
Winnebago County Sheriff's Office sent out a press release and a note to their social media followers requesting help identifying the deceased.
Public Assistance Needed
Anyone with information regarding the male subject that was found in the Rock River last Thursday is encouraged to contact the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office.
According to their description, the black male had distinct physical features, including black, shoulder-length dreadlocks, a mustache with chin hair, and growths and deformities on both ear lobes.
He also had a tattoo on his left forearm that said "Divine" in script. The deceased was discovered wearing blue jeans with white strips down the side of each leg, a white tank top, a black coat with a hoodie attached, and black boots.

According to their report, the black male is between the ages of 18 and 30, approximately 5'8 in height, and weighing between 125 and 140 pounds.

Winnebago Country deputies are still unsure about the circumstances surrounding the individual's death. The public can help by providing any information about the individual or the incident that could help identify the individual and bring closure to his family and friends.
