Remember When A Typo Was Printed On Thousands Of Illinois State Fair Ads?
Today we're going to talk about a wacky little ad for a fair that got people giggling. Can you guess why? The year of the event on the ad for the Illinois State For was 2108! I mean, c'mon, did someone fall asleep at the keyboard or what? (Totally calling the kettle black.)
Now, before you start getting all excited about time travel, let me burst your bubble: we're not there yet. But what would life look like in the future, specifically, the year 2108? If we're focusing on the Illinois State Fair in 2108 it would be off the hook!
Just imagine carnival rides that'll take you to space and a Ferris wheel that doubles as a time machine. And the food? You KNOW there would be deep-fried kale chips that taste like chocolate cake.
What I want to know is if the Illinois State Fair will even exist in the year 2108, it's likely nobody reading this will be around by then.

But you know what they say, any publicity is good publicity. And this ad got people talking. I mean, who wouldn't want to see what the Illinois State Fair looks like in the year 2108? I'm not sure the lineup would work though.
How Old Would These Singers Be in 2108?
If we were to calculate the ages of some of the Illinois State Fair's performers, would anyone even be alive?
- Boy George: 151 years old in 2108
- Lzzy Hale (Halestorm): 129 years old in 2108
- Luke Combs: 122 years old in 2108
- Flo Rida: 133 years old in 2108
In 2108 you'll need a time machine to see all of the 2018 grandstand headliners at the Illinois State Fair or, because it's the future, maybe they'll return as holograms.
In all honesty, it's not hard to see how a typo like this could happen. Maybe the person typing was in a rush or the proofreader had a brain fart. But it just goes to show that even the smallest mistake can make a big impact. And in this case, it gave us all a good chuckle.
