History of Mirabel Caves Hotel, aka, 'Hell Hotel'

While this hotel might look like a rundown pile of rocks today, it was quite THE place to stay when it was built back in 1900. It was once a health spa that fancy travelers from New York, Chicago, and Milwaukee loved to stay at due to its high-end facilities.

During the Prohibition era, Mirabel Caves Hotel became a hangout for infamous gangsters like John Dillinger and Baby Face Nelson, and that is where its real troubles began.

The Haunts of Wisconsin's 'Hell Hotel'

Rumors say Al Capone once had a hand in the ownership of Mirabel Caves Hotel, and it looks like karma came back to bite this fine hotel in the rear end big time because of it! The hotel went up in flames in the 1920s and then was demolished by a wind storm in August of 2013.  Some of the stone structure still stands today, but it is often considered one of the most haunted places in Wisconsin!

There are all kinds of haunted stories surrounding this Hell Hotel including wailing and moaning from the caves that lie beneath it, weird sounds and apparitions, blood on the walls, and so much more. Here's a good summary I found on Facebook...
