Popular Pecatonica Brunch Spot Abruptly Closes, Then Reopens

It's been a wild couple of months of sudden closings and future uncertainties for two businesses in the Stateline area.

There's the closing then reopening, then closing and reopening again of Gustafson's Furniture & Mattress in Rockford, and a similar situation has been happening at Egg One Five Brunch Bar in Pecatonica.

Is Egg One Five Closed?

I live in Pecatonica, so when Egg One Five opened in October 2024, we were all very excited!

My family finally tried it a few months after the restaurant opened, and were very impressed! The owners had done a lot of work inside the building, the food was delicious, and we left looking forward to enjoying many more meals there in the years to come.

In the last few months I have noticed a lot of chatter in Pecatonica-area Facebook groups talking about Egg One Five closing, and I was super bummed.

Rumor is the business was sold back in December, and then on March 20, 2026 employees arrived at work to find this notice on the door:

What the heck is going on?

I get that ownership changes come with a mess of hurdles and paperwork to jump through, but not informing your staff ahead of time that the diner would be temporarily closing? That's not cool at all.

Thankfully, this story has a happy ending.

Egg One Five Reopen Under New Ownership

Earlier this week an Egg One Five employee posted this in one of Pecatonica's neighborhood Facebook groups:
