I was daydreaming about taking a fabulous sandy vacation earlier today while looking at the world's most beautiful beaches, and I was a little bummed to see nothing from the Midwest.

Midwest Beaches Can't Compete, But Lakes Might

It makes sense because those beaches are some of the most gorgeous things I have ever seen. While the Midwest is lacking in fantastic beach vacations, one thing we have plenty of is lakes. Travel + Leisure agrees, too, as they just named this tourist hot spot America's best for vacations.

Travel + Leisure's list of the 25 Best Lake Vacations in the U.S. suggests packing our bags and heading to Lake Superior in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota.

Why Lake Superior Is a Fishing Paradise

The article calls Lake Superior the "Best for Fishing" while including:

Lake Superior is so vast it could easily hold the water from all of the other Great Lakes. That means there's plenty of room for fish to thrive: salmon, trout, walleye, smelt, whitefish, herring, northern pike, smallmouth bass, and many other game species can be caught in abundance along the lake's tristate shores. No matter what time of year, some sort of fishing is in season.

Bayfield, Wisconsin: A Lake Superior Gem

I've been to Bayfield, Wisconsin, and while I can't say much about the fishing in Lake Superior, I can tell you it is one pretty spot and perfect for a lake vacation.
