If you were planning on taking a trip to Chicago to eat one of the best burgers in America, you're just gonna have to wait.

What We Know About the Sudden Closure

Au Cheval, the West Loop staple burger joint known for its delicious grub and dimly lit layout, has temporarily closed for what is being dubbed a "refresh." The sudden closure began just this week, and while the folks behind the scenes at Au Cheval didn't provide details, their website does say it should expect to reopen in late May.

If you've never been here, here's what you can expect: long lines, no resos, and all that's to say, it's totally worth all of it.

Where to Get Your Fix While You Wait

If you need your Au Cheval fix, their sister restaurant, Small Cheval, is still open in many locations in the Chicago area. It offers its fans burgers, fried chicken, and milkshakes, just a little less of what you get at the OG restaurant.

Never fear, though. This closure isn't forever; if they stick to the schedule, it should only last a few weeks.
