Some people who live in Wisconsin are competitive fruit and vegetable growers. They have a garden for sport to try and break world records. I didn't even know that was a thing. Apparently, it's a very big thing and you better have the ultimate green thumb if you want to become one of the best in the world.
A man from Stoughton started a garden to grow pumpkins for his grandson. Each year, they would get bigger. Then he decided to add tomatoes. Now, it's more than a hobby. This is a way of life. He's a competitive grower.
This was a huge year for him. This guy grew the largest tomato in the world. It was just over 10 pounds. This is a big deal for multiple reasons. That has only happened three other times ever in the entire world. The funny thing is that he doesn't even eat the tomatoes. He collects the seeds to share with others.
This isn't the only record-breaking fruits and vegetables he has grown. He also has a famous cantaloupe and butternut squash on his resume. He seems to really enjoy the competition and it looks like a pretty fun hobby.
