Criminals are far from perfect, especially when committing a crime, and in this case, in Illinois, the car thief committed an epic fail.

I have often talked about starting a crime school because of dumb criminals committing stupid crimes. The reason many of them get caught and arrested is that they make bonehead moves. Maybe, if they took a class, they would learn what not to do so they don't get caught. Don't worry, they would probably still blow it. In this case that recently occurred in Illinois, the suspect made an epic fail.

According to Monday's news release from police spokesman Dwayne English, at 10:19 a.m. Friday, officers on routine patrol near South Ottawa Street and McDonough Street were approached by a man who reported that a person tried to steal his pickup truck at gunpoint.

Some people are surprised that I never learned how to drive a stick-shift car, but in my defense, I never had the opportunity. My dad had to drive in awful traffic every day to and from work, so there was no way he was going to experience that with a manual transmission. Since I was never taught, there is no reason to purchase or rent a vehicle with a stick shift. Apparently, this car thief in Illinois didn't get the memo.

A man was driving in a Joliet neighborhood when the suspect ran up to the vehicle with a gun. He pointed the weapon at the driver, so the victim willingly gave up his car to the thief. Seems like your typical carjacking, right? Well, the story doesn't end there. Once the car thief was in the vehicle, he realized that he just committed an epic fail.
