Wisconsin Is Home To One Of The Biggest Free Zoos In The United States
When I was a kid, one of my favorite things to do with my family was go to a zoo. Who am I kidding? I still do. I love animals. I thought it was fascinating to see some of them that I would never see regularly. It was like traveling to a different world. If we were on vacation and there was a zoo in that city, we would definitely go. My parents were also good at finding smaller, lesser-known zoos. Sometimes they were even free.

According to Henry Villas Zoo in Madison...
We are proud to be one of only a few admission-free, community-supported zoos across the country. Thank you for supporting our mission to conserve and protect the wonders of the living natural world.
The Henry Vilas Zoo is one of ten remaining free zoos in North America. As an accredited AZA (Association of Zoos & Aquariums) zoo, our mission is to conserve and protect the wonders of the natural living world.
We spent a lot of time at Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago because it was free and it was really nice. Plus, they had Mold-A-Rama machines, so I could get my favorite souvenir to bring home. I was really excited to have my own daughter to share the zoo experience with her.

I even got to experience a new zoo with her and my family. It is the Henry Villas Zoo in Madison. My first trip there was as a chaperone on a school field trip. It's a great place and one of my favorites now. The best part, there is no admission fee. Plus, it's one of the biggest free zoos in America. If you've never been, I suggest taking the family this summer.
