Before companies like Uber and Lyft existed, there weren't many other options to get places. Of course, you could walk or ride a bike. The distance and weather play a big part in that one. There's public transportation but it might not be offered in your area. Taxi cabs can be very costly.

It's not even just the really expensive nice vehicles and the glamorous neighborhoods anymore. Car thieves in Illinois will steal just about anything from anywhere as long as it runs. The latest incident involves a ride-share passenger. A woman in Chicago ordered a pick-up. The driver had to make a quick stop to fill the vehicle up with gas. He left the lady in the car alone for a couple of minutes to put in the fuel.
Right in the middle of the fill-up, the suspect jumps in the driver's seat and takes off. She stole the ride-share vehicle. It was a pretty dumb move because the company has all of her personal information from when she ordered the ride. This woman won't have to worry about rides for a while.
