Illinois has a serious problem when it comes to crime. It's not just in Chicago anymore. The issue is throughout the state. Special Police Unit Started In Illinois
When crime gets out of hand on the local and state level, sometimes a little help from the feds is a solution to the problem. This is exactly what happened in Illinois. The federal government has put together the Lake County sheriff's office's Special Investigations Group.

This unit is made up of 60% local police and the rest are federal agents. The group consists of officers from Lake County, Round Lake Beach, Round Lake Park, Park City, Wauconda, Winthrop Harbor, Zion, Homeland Security, DEA, FBI, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.

Recording Breaking Year For Lake County Sheriff's Office's Special Investigations Group
This special crime unit has been a success from the get-go. The group focuses on drugs, guns, and human traffickers. In fact, 2022 was a record-breaking year for arrests. They confiscated $7 million dollars worth of illegal drugs and 120 guns. There were 67 arrests made and 112 criminal cases opened. Also, two victims were rescued from human trafficking.
