One of my family's favorite things to do in the summertime is to go to the beach. We actually plan our yearly vacation around going to one. We usually head to Florida because it's so easy to fly out of Rockford.

I understand that many Illinois residents enjoy going to the beach too but it's just not in their budget to take a long trip out of state. Though I highly recommend it whenever possible because it's a very relaxing time off.

Well, you don't have to travel far or even leave the state if you want to spend some time at the beach. There are plenty of them throughout Illinois, especially around Lake Michigan. They are all very beautiful too. When I was a kid, I spent a lot of time at Oak Street Beach in Chicago and had a great time.

The good thing about going to a beach in Illinois is that it is affordable family fun. They may charge you a couple of bucks to park or get in but otherwise, you're saving money. You can bring your own food and beverages.
