Former PTO President Busted Embezzling $10K From IL School
$10,000 Embezzled From Illinois School
The incident happened last school year at Prairie Elementary School which is part of the Kildeer Countryside Community Consolidated School District 96 in Buffalo Grove. An investigation by the executive board members of the Parent Teachers Organization discovered that money was missing from the school account. The former president, Megan Robin, was arrested for stealing $10,000.
Details About The School Embezzlement
The former PTO president had been doing several illegal actions with the school funds. First of all, she wasn't depositing all of the money that the students earned during fundraising campaigns. Next, the woman was taking cash out of the account without permission and then using it for personal reasons and not for the district. The suspect was also using the Prairie Elementary School credit card on herself and was not education related.
Following a two-month investigation, a former president of the Prairie Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization is being charged with felony theft after allegedly stealing funds from the organization.
"We are shocked and saddened that any parent volunteer would take advantage of their position to divert funds from their intended purpose for personal benefit," the D96 PTO Coordinating Council said in a statement.
I would seriously have a couple of questions for this woman. How could she steal from children and a school like that, especially put in a trusted position? Also, how did she really think she was going to get away with it?
